II. Where does one find the Law?

1. Nature

1. Locke

In reading the Locke excerpts, it may be helpful to ask how Locke answers these questions:

  1. What are the rules in the state of nature and where are they derived from?
  2. Was there ever actually state of nature? Does it matter if this is a historical claim or just a metaphor?
  3. How does one move from a state of nature to a new state?
  4. How does one acquire property?
  5. Can one become the owner of the ocean by the admixture of a can of tomato paste?
  6. When if ever are revolutions justified according to Locke?
  7. Can a person agree to be tyrannized?
