Practice Question 1: Mandatory

The final exam will be administered in person in a classroom. The exam will be closed book. “Closed book” means the following:

• For those taking exams on a laptop, during the time the exam is being administered you may not:
  1. Use cell phones, tablets, Apple watches or similar devices with cellular or internet service
  2. Access the internet or cellular service through your laptop
  3. Access files and notes stored on your laptop
     
  4. Keep with you and/or consult any written material other than the exam and any other materials handed out by the proctors as part of the exam. “Written material” includes your casebook, the course supplementary material, outlines you have prepared or participated in preparing, or other materials such as commercial outlines
  5. Communicate with anyone other than Law School personnel involved in administering the exam.
• For those writing their answers in bluebooks, during the time the exam is being administered you may not:
  1. Use cell phones, tablets, Apple watches or similar devices with cellular or internet service
  2. Use your laptop
  3. Keep with you and/or consult any written material other than the exam and any other materials handed out by the proctors as part of the exam. “Written material” includes your casebook, the course supplementary material, outlines you have prepared or participated in preparing, or other materials such as commercial outlines

Your final grade will be determined as the result of your (1) final exam grade, (2) class participation credit, if any, and (3) class attendance penalty (if any):

1. Exam grade: Consistent with Law School policy, the final exam will be graded on an anonymous grading number (AGN) basis.
2. Class participation: Class participation can raise your final grade, though not lower it. Typically if you get class participation credit, it would raise your grade by one letter grade (e.g., from a B+ to an A-) but in a few rare cases it might raise it two levels (e.g., from a B- to a B+). Note that the idea behind class participation credit is to give an alternative method of evaluation, since some people express their thoughts better orally than in writing. I make the final decision on whether to award class participation credit after classes are over and the exams are graded.
3. Class attendance. If you have too many absences, it may affect your final grade or your continued enrollment in the course. Please see the Course Policies for details.

There will be a mandatory mid-term practice exam on Monday, September 29, during the regular class meeting time, in Room F309 (not the regular classroom). The exam will be closed book, administered in person. The same rules about closed book apply as those set out for the Final Exam. As with the Final Exam, it will be administered on an anonymous grading number (AGN) basis. The practice exam will not be graded or count toward your final grade, but you must take it.
